TGPC: What motivated you to participate in India’s Miss TGPC?
Shubhangini: Girls from indigenous communities, no matter which social or economic status they belong to, have represented the community and won the competition. Winning such a prestigious title had made their voice reach the masses. This is why the ‘Crown and the sash’ really matters. The stage of India’s Miss TGPC provides a platform for empowerment. It is a revolution in itself!
TGPC: Why do you believe you are deserving of the India’s Miss TGPC title?
Shubhangini: Hailing from a family of lawyers and engineers, after completing my law degree, I discovered myself during pageantry. I represent every individual who wants to make a mark of their presence. I am soon to be a part of one of the top management institutes in the world. My story sends out a strong message to our youth: be passionate enough to never give up on your dreams.
TGPC: Looking towards the future, what are your plans, both with and without the crown?
Shubhangini: I am extremely excited to win the crown of India’s Miss TGPC season 12 because I believe that this will give me a platform to connect with a larger audience. I look forward to incorporating sustainable education as an integral part of our curriculum. I will keep spreading the awareness about concepts that involve active academic participation to create economic, social, and environmental programs improving life standards, generating empowerment, and respecting interdependence.

TGPC: Growing up, what would you say was your biggest challenge?
Shubhangini: Life has taught me to be strong-willed and determined from a very young age. When I was 9, I accidentally fell out of the car and another car rushing from behind passed over my leg. I had multiple fractures in my right leg. It took me a year and a half to recover, and now here I am as a pageant girl walking my way up to the crown.
TGPC: Beyond winning, what aspect of India’s Miss TGPC are you most excited about?
Shubhangini: I personally believe that IMT really helps voice the glories and challenges of girls and cultures from across the country. Growing up, I have seen TGPC empowering people who have a vision of making themselves stronger, empowering others to do the same, and coming together as one. Unity in diversity and empowerment are some of the things that make IMT a wholesome experience.
TGPC: As an aspiring winner of India’s Miss TGPC, what legacy do you aspire to leave behind?
Shubhangini: Owing to different experiences in life, I want to create a legacy of CHARACTER, COMPASSION, CONFIDENCE, and CHOICES. I ardently believe that God helps those who help themselves; it is my hard work that has brought me recognition and my faith that keeps me driving.

TGPC: Could you share with us the causes or issues that you are particularly passionate about, and how do you intend to utilize this platform to create an impact?
Shubhangini: Education is important to formulate, challenge, and disseminate ideas, knowledge, skills, and values within communities, from young to not-so-young, and between communities, nations, and continents. Education is identified as a key element of sustainability-focused strategies in many contexts and levels. I am someone who dares to dream and has the desire to work hard. I want to ensure that we build an education system that empowers future generations to determine how they build, how they create, how they grow, and how they want to be remembered. Nelson Mandela was right when he stated, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can utilize to transform the world.” Education is power, without a doubt. It can transform the entire world. It is a gesture where we accept knowledge and then give methodical directions in return, ranging from promoting gender equality to eliminating poverty.
TGPC: Is there any message you’d like to convey to those reading this?
Shubhangini: Although life is not perfect, as we all know, nothing in it is insurmountable. You can achieve anything you can dream of. Your thoughts and your intellect hold all the power. In times of difficulty, I have truly learned how to reframe my negative thoughts into constructive ones.
