Anna Burdzy crowned Miss Universe Great Britain 2017
On 14th July coronation night, Anna Burdzy was crowned as Miss Universe Great Britain 2017! The 25 year old beauty queen hails from Leicester, England. She will now officially represent her country at the upcoming Miss Universe pageant. Anna is not a new face in the Great Britain pageantry. In the year 2014, she was almost close to winning the title and stood as the 1st runner up at Miss Universe Great Britain 2014. This year, it was a dream come true moment when she succeeded Jamie Lee Faulkner as the new Miss Universe Great Britain.
In the run up to the final, contestants of the pageant have been tasked with a series of fundraising challenges for Strongbones – a charity which helps children from all over the UK with diseases of the bone. They have also attended group events to support Sheroes Hangout – a project run by the Stop Acid Attacks charity in India which helps women who have survived acid violence. Anna Burdzy, being the new face of Miss Universe GB will visit India during her reign to meet the women personally and to present the money raised by the event.

As a law graduate, Anna recently returned to university to study for a master’s degree in human rights law and aspires to work for the UN and start her own charity. She also have plans to travel to Calais to help refugees who find themselves in an unimaginable situation and Sudan to volunteerwith for women’s charity. As a hardworking, ambitious, loving and family-orientated woman, Anna hopes to inspire young girls around the world to achieve their dreams.
Great Britain has never won the Miss Universe crown before. The closest it could reach was in the year 2013, when Amy Willerton secured the Top 10 spot at Miss Universe 2013 pageant.
