Sonika Roy is Miss India Asia Pacific International 2017
Sonika Roy has been chosen as Miss India Asia Pacific International 2017. The pageant will be held in the Philippines. In this year’s edition, Tessa le Conge of the Netherlands will crown her successor.
Pageantry world knows Sonika Roy well. She was Top 3 finalist in Femina Miss India Odisha 2017 which was eventually won by Christeena Biju. She is also an actress.
Going to Miss Asia Pacific International is certainly an opportunity for Sonika Roy. The pageant is old. It was first held in 1965. Over the years, there has been change in the criteria and name of the contest. Nevertheless it has enjoyed huge popularity in past. India has won the pageant thrice in past. The first Indian to win was famous Bollywood actress Zeenat Aman. She achieved the feat in 1970. Then Tara Anne Fonseca won the title again in 1973. After a gap of 27 years, Diya Mirza won the title in 2000. The pageant was not held in 2006-2015 due to funds issue. Interestingly, Srishti Vyakaranam was India’s bet at Miss Asia Pacific International 2016. She is a contestant in Femina Miss India 2017 pageant. She was also a contestant in Miss Diva 2016 (Miss India Universe).
