Denisse Franco, Miss Sinaloa, has been chosen as Nuestra belleza México 2017, Miss Universe Mexico 2017. She succeeds Kristal Silva (Top 9 finalist at Miss Universe 2016) as Miss Universe Mexico and will represent the country at the next Miss Universe pageant. The pageant took place in Mexico city and around 32 contestants competed for the most prestigious pageant title in the country.
Denisse Franco, the winner of the 23rd edition of the pageant, is from Culiacan. At 18 years of age, she stands 1.76 meters tall.
Mexico is one of the best performing countries in Miss Universe. They clinched their first crown in Miss Universe 1991 with Lupita Jones, who is the current President of Nuestra Belleza Mexico pageant. The pageant begun in 1995 and since then 11 winners have placed in Miss Universe. About 9 of them made it to the Top 10. 4 of them made it to the finalists (Top 5 or 6). The highest placement is achieved by Miss Universe 2010 Ximena Navarette. Last year’s delegate Kristal Silva was touted as the best face of the pageant and managed to make it to the Top 9. Her elimination after evening gown competition was a surprise. Will Denisse Franco win Miss Universe title for her country?
