Elsa Iradukunda is crowned as Miss Rwanda 2017

Elsa Iradukunda was crowned as Miss Rwanda 2017 last month. She succeeds Jolly Mutesi as Miss Rwanda title-holder. She will represent Rwanda at Miss World 2017. Guelda Shimwa is her 1st runner-up and Linda Umutoniwase is her second runner-up.
Elsa Iradukunda is from Kigali. She defeated 15 finalists in a colorful event at the Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village. She is senior-6 graduate from King David High School. As prize, Elsa gets a brand new Suzuki Swift and monthly payment of Rwf 8L (970 USD). Apart from Elsa, all other contestants also got scholarships to pursue undergraduate degrees at Mahatma Gandhi University.
Elsa Iradukunda is 7th winner of Miss Rwanda title. The pageant was first held in 1993, then 2009 and then 2012. Since 2014, it is being held every year. Last year Miss Rwanda Jolly Mutesi, the first Miss Rwanda to participate in Miss World, achieved some recognition in Miss World 2016 by making it to the Top 24 of Beauty With A Purpose event, which was eventually won by Natasha Mannuela of Indonesia. Elsa has good amount of time. She can work on herself and perhaps achieve the first placement for her country at Miss World this year.
