A sad day in pageantry strikes when Cory Quirino, the National Director of Miss World Philippines, decided to quit the franchise after 6 years of extremely successful run. This is what she said,
“I have decided to relinquish the license of Miss World Philippines for both personal and business reasons. Thank you for supporting me all these six years, and for being part of our challenges and victories. I will never forget you,”
It is to be noted that Ms. Quirino was one of the most successful national directors at Miss World in this decade because during 6 years, she gave Philippines their first ever Miss World crown in 2013 through the courtesy of Megan Young, two Top 5 finish, one Top 10 finish and 2 semifinalists. All of her winners went on to place, which hasn’t happened for any country in past 6 years. This was the least expected time to hear something from Cory who was tasting the fruits of success. It is speculated that non winning of Catriona Gray at Miss World 2016 could be one of the reasons.
Quirino also said that some of her friends or associates might get Miss World franchise whom she already introduced to Miss World organisation. It would now be interesting to know if the new owner of the franchise lives upto the expectations and can produce the similar successful results or no.
