Femina Miss India 2017: Major Changes in selection process!
Search for Femina Miss India 2017 has begun. And this time there are many changes, listed as follows:-
- The height criteria is reduced. Now girls with height 5 feet 5 inches and above will be able to participate in the pageant. This is absolutely wonderful because many stunning girls with height 5’5″ were left in recent years. As such there is NO height criteria in Miss World pageant.
- There will be no swimsuit round in the auditions. This should enable girls from conservative family backgrounds to feel comfortable in auditioning.
- 30 states of the country are segregated in 5 zones. Auditions will be held in each state and then there will be a state crowning ceremony in each zone, where contestants from each state will be acknowledged. In other words, this year Femina Miss India 2017 will have contestants like Miss Gujarat, Miss Punjab, Miss Kerala, etc. This will add so much to the excitement in the pageant! TGPC had already suggested this change in a post early this year. Check it: Should Miss India adopt state pageants system like USA?
- The 30 state winners will then undergo training in Mumbai and then compete in finale, which may be held in June 2017.
