Magdalena Cohendet is Miss Universe Uruguay 2016

Magdalena Cohendet has been chosen as the winner of Miss Universe Uruguay 2016 title.  Magdalena succeeds Bianca Sánchez Pico as Miss Universe Uruguay title-holder.  She is 19 years old beauty from Artigas.  She is around 5 feet 10 inches tall.

Magdalena will represent Uruguay at Miss Universe 2016.  The pageant will be held in the Philippines in January 2017.  The finals will be held in Metro Manila on 30th January 2017 and the reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach from the Philippines will crown her successor at the end of the internationally televised grand event.  This year around 100 contestants may compete for the title of Miss Universe.  The arrivals for the pageant will begin by the end of the second week of January 2017.

Uruguay has not placed at Miss Universe pageant since 3 decades.  They are participating in Miss Universe since the inception of the pageant.  In all, beauties from Uruguay have placed for 6 times in total.  The highest placement of Uruguay in Miss Universe was achieved by Andrea Beatríz López Silva.  She was 4th runner-up at Miss Universe 1985.  After her, no one from Uruguay placed!!
