Miss Universe 2015 Question and Answer Rounds: 2 Best Performers
This year, in the Miss Universe 2015 Question and Answer rounds, the Top 5 finalists had to face questions from the host pertaining to their countries. Then the Top 3 were presented with a common question. All the five girls did well in these rounds. After many years in Miss Universe, we saw such a strong Top 5 when it comes to interview skills. The Top 3 finalists were also good in the second round. Here we try to highlight the best performances of both the rounds.
In the first round of Miss Universe 2015 Question and Answer portion, Miss France Flora Coquerel was the best performer. She was asked, “Having experienced terrorism first hand, what is the best way to combat this rising threat?” Flora replied thoughtfully to the question, “In my opinion, to fight terrorism, first we have to know where the problems are coming from. We have to listen to the people who are committing these attacks. So we have to find the problem at its heart. And for us French, we have to learn to be happy, to live and to be among ourselves.” If this question is posed to people, majority will speak about killing those who are involved in terrorism. However, in spite of having faced terrorism so closely, Flora showed immense wisdom by saying that we have to understand problem at its heart and be happy unconditionally. In this way, she acknowledged that terrorists are human-beings too and rather than reacting with aggression, we can choose to show sanity and sense by giving them a chance to explain their side. No wonder Flora had finished 1st in Miss World 2014 interviews! The judges there must have been smitten by her wisdom and intelligence. Perhaps if Miss Universe 2015 had a smarter set of judges (Perez Hilton? Seriously?), Flora would have made the next cut.
Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach was the best in second round of Miss Universe 2015 Question and Answer portion. She was asked, “Why should you be the next Miss Universe?” She said, “To be a Miss Universe is both an honour and a responsibility. If I were to be Miss Universe, I will use my voice to influence the youth and I would raise awareness to certain causes like HIV awareness that is timely and relevant to my country, which is the Philippines. I want to show the world, the universe rather, that I am confidently beautiful with a heart. Thank you” While Miss USA spoke about women empowerment and Miss Colombia called herself a woman with all attributes needed for Miss Universe, Miss Philippines spoke about the actual work that Miss Universe winners do – raising HIV awareness and influencing youth. She spoke about being “confidently beautiful” which is the tag-line of Miss Universe and added a bit fun by correcting her usage of the word “world” with “universe”. It was clearly the best answer. Her delivery too was very sweet. Her preparation for the pageant was clearly visible in this performance too.
Thus, Miss France and Miss Philippines were the best in Miss Universe 2015 question and answer rounds.
