18-year-old Karishma Mehra from Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, isn’t letting anything hold her back. Once subjected to body shaming, Karishma sculpted her confidence, transforming negativity into self-love. Passionate about pageantry and modeling since the age of 13 (winning over 7 titles!), she’s ready to take the next step. A talented painter and cook with a keen interest in business and commerce, she aims to pursue a B.Com (Hons) degree. Contesting for India’s Miss TGPC Season-12 against 50 other girls from across India and beyond, Karishma is ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and advocacy, all while showcasing the diversity and vibrancy of India.
TGPC: Karishma, what motivated you to participate in India’s Miss TGPC?
Karishma: The aspiration to become Miss Universe has been etched in my heart for years, and I firmly believe that participating in India’s Miss TGPC will pave the way towards my goal. I am genuinely excited about the opportunities for self-development and growth that lie ahead.
TGPC: Why do you believe you are deserving of the India’s Miss TGPC title?
Karishma: I believe that I deserve to win the title of India’s Miss TGPC because I am a strong believer in hard work and I am determined to achieve my goals. I possess the power to stay steadfast in pursuing the ambitions I have set for myself. With unwavering determination, I am ready to showcase my commitment and passion on this journey.
TGPC: Looking towards the future, what are your plans, both with and without the crown?
Karishma: Looking forward to the future, my plans remain determined towards my goals, regardless of the crown. If crowned, I will use this platform to empower and inspire others to pursue their dreams. But even without the crown, I will continue to work with unwavering determination towards my goals and remain committed to personal growth and community enrichment.
TGPC: Growing up, what would you say was your biggest challenge?
Karishma: Growing up, it took a lot of willpower to accept myself as I am. Being someone who faced body shaming for not fitting society’s beauty standards, it was a huge challenge to overcome and emerge as a person who embraces self-love and confidence.
TGPC: Beyond winning, what aspect of India’s Miss TGPC are you most excited about?
Karishma: What excites me most about India’s Miss TGPC is the opportunity for personal growth and development throughout the journey. The “Miss Golden Heart” subtitle round allows contestants to showcase impactful social projects, benefiting countless individuals. Additionally, I am thrilled about the chance to build a sisterhood with the other contestants as we embark on this transformative journey together.
TGPC: As an aspiring winner of India’s Miss TGPC, what legacy do you aspire to leave behind?
Karishma: I aspire to leave behind a legacy that inspires everyone to chase their dreams. A legacy of inspiration and empowerment. I want to see a positive change in society that truly makes a difference in the world.
TGPC: Could you share with us the causes or issues that you are particularly passionate about, and how do you intend to utilize this platform to create an impact?
Karishma: I am deeply committed to helping underprivileged children with their studies and engaging them in art and crafts, providing them with opportunities for education and creativity. I aim to use India’s Miss TGPC platform to promote “Project Gyaan,” ensuring more underprivileged children benefit from its services.
TGPC: Is there any message you’d like to convey to those reading this?
Karishma: To everyone reading this, remember that with determination, you can achieve anything. Stay focused on your goals, believe in yourself, and never underestimate the power of perseverance.
