Nicky Opheij is Miss Netherlands 2017

Nicky Opheij of Amsterdam has been chosen as the winner of Miss Nederland, thus becoming Miss Universe Netherlands 2017. She will represent the Netherlands in Miss Universe 2017 which is to be held next month in Las Vegas, United States of America. Nicky succeeds Zoey Ivory as Miss Universe Netherlands.

22 years old Nicky Opheij stands 1.8 m tall. She represented North Holland in Miss Nederlands. She is an established model in the country and had won Holland’s Next Top Model in 2014.

History of Netherlands in Miss Universe

Netherlands has been sending representative at Miss Universe since 1956 and they have a decent record with around 10 placements, which include 3 runner-up placements and one winner placement. Yes, the admirable Angela Visser from the Netherlands won Miss Universe 1989. Last high placement of the Netherlands was achieved by Yasmin Verheijen in Miss Universe 2014, where she was 3rd runner-up. Last year Zoey Ivory did not place but a video of her care-free dance moves on the Miss Universe stage in the finals went viral bringing her a lot of positive attention.
