Geena Thompson wins Miss World Bahamas 2017
On July 30, 2017 coronation night, Geena Thompson was crowned as Miss World Bahamas 2017 at Baha Mar Convention Center. The 24 year old beauty queen hails from Nassau, Bahamas. She will now officially represent Bahamas in the upcoming Miss World 2017 pageant. Geena is not a new face of Bahamas pageantry. Last year, she managed to secure a Top 5 spot in this pageant. This year, she was titled as Miss World Long Islands 2017. With many days of preparation, she was all set to win Miss World Bahamas 2017 and succeeded Ashley Hamilton as the new Miss World Bahamas.
This year’s theme of the pageant was “Metamorphosis” and they started with a charity reception at the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas on July 7. In the run to finale, 9 contestants were challenged to raise money to help defray costs of the Society’s rebuilding effort in Grand Bahama following the destruction of its headquarters by the passage of Hurricane Matthew. With Miss World Bahamas 2016, Ashley Hamilton, they also raised $5,000 for the Cancer Society of The Bahamas.
Geena is 5’9 in height, she represented Long Islands at the pageant. In her national costume round she depicted ‘The Royal Poinciana’. She is a determined women who loves playing volleyball. During her leisure, she enjoys Cross Fit training for fitness. Her favorite dish is fried calamari.

Bahamas has never won the Miss World crown before. The closest it could reach was in 2010 when Braneka Bassett secured a spot in Top 25 at Miss World 2010.
