13 Reasons Why Beauty Queens Make the Best Superheroes
If you don’t already know that the reigning wonder woman Gal Gadot was a former Miss Universe contestant, you were probably in a coma for the last few years. And if you are a pageant fan, you may also know that Gal is not the first pageant alumna to have played an on screen superhero. After nailing the “Pageant Universe”, many beauty queens went on to slay the “DC and Marvel Universe”. Pageant girls Halle Barry (Catwoman and Storm), Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman) and Kelly Hu (Lady Deathstrike – X-Men) have saved millions of lives on screen. But don’t make the mistake of thinking that the pageant girls grabbed those roles only because they are pretty. In fact beauty queens don’t need to be casted as an on-screen super human to save the world. Being a pageant winner itself makes these girls superheroes in disguise. Don’t believe us? Here are 13 reasons why beauty queens make the best superheroes:
They are Physically Strong
Pageant girls are physically as strong as a world class athlete. From an active member of military to a black belt holder in martial arts, pageant girls are more than enough strong to take care of themselves and their loved ones
They are Focused
Spiderman may get distracted because of Mary Jane or Superman may lose control over his powers due to Krypton Stones, but a true pageant girl would never lose her focus. Pageant girls have one and only one aim and that is to win the crown. And they won’t stop until they succeed.
They are Intelligent
We can safely say that the Superheroes are “beauties with brains”. Seriously, have you ever seen a Superhero that is not attractive or intelligent? Scientists, journalists, doctors, lawyers… beauty queens have donned every career that a successful superhero has. Hence in terms of both beauty and intelligence, our queens are at par with the superheroes.
They are Fierce
Beauty queens are embodiment of fierceness. Lay your hand on their crown and they will come after you like Cersie Lannister. They live by only one principle – “Slay and Rule”.
They are Confident
Immense amount of confidence is one of the common traits of a Beauty Queen and a Super Hero. Be it facing hard questions in the interview round or tripping during the evening gown round, the Beauty Queens always confidently own the tricky situations.
They are empathetic
If you have to solve problems of other people, you need to know the feelings, thoughts or attitudes of those people. Beauty queens do so without any super powers like Professor X.
They are aware of global issues
A beauty queen has to be aware of the important events happening all around the world. While X-Men need advocates like Beast to campaign for them as a group, beauty queens fight independently without having somebody else to represent them.
They are witty
If you are under the impression that only superheroes can come up with quirky one liners, we request you to watch the QnA round at Femina Miss India. A Miss India can put Iron Man to shame in terms of wittiness and spontaneity.
They are Competitive
While a Superhero has to fight only a handful of opponents at one time, a Beauty Queen has to compete against champions from across the globe. In terms of competitiveness, beauty queens are way ahead of superheroes.
Their Attitude
A Diva attitude only suits on a person who has earned the right to be so. While Batman acts like a diva just by spending money from the enormous fortune that he inherited, beauty queens earn their fortune by working hard.
They are proud of their background
Every Superhero has a back story about how he overcome adversities in life and achieved something great. Similarly Beauty queens proudly embrace their backgrounds and put forward “real life” positive examples of how one can bounce back from troublesome times.
Role Model
A beauty queen is meant to be a positive role model for the youth. Achievements of a beauty queen are not farfetched for common people. Even a small town girl with no resources can dream of becoming a beauty queen. Achievements of superheroes on the other hand are unattainable (unless you are either a victim of an illegal scientific experiment or you inherited a huge amount of wealth).
Last but not the least “World Peace”
Although in recent years the phrase “world peace” kind of became a pun about pageants, we cannot forget that it is indeed the foundation of pageantry. During the times of wars, pageants did an excellent job of inspiring compassion amongst people. The wars may not have ended because of the Beauty Queens, but their efforts were noteworthy. The Captain America may have fictionally played a vital role in World War II, but it was a real life Miss America who helped rally the nation during the actual war.
At the end of the day, Superheroes are just comic book characters saving a fictional world from a scripted crisis. On the other hand the Beauty Queens have been serving the world and making difference in the lives of millions of people for nearly a hundred years and will continue to do so for decades to come regardless of having a crown on their head.
