Vena Mookram crowned Miss World Guyana 2017!

After several weeks of preparation, 18-year-old Vena Mookram was crowned as the Miss World Guyana 2017. This was her maiden pageant as she has never taken part in any beauty contest. The contest was held at the Marriott Hotel Guyana on Sunday night, where Vena Mookram competed against nine other delegates for winning the coveted title. She will now represent her country, Guyana at Miss World 2017 which will be held in December. She succeeds Nuriyyih Gerrard as the new Miss World Guyana.

Vena Mookram is a big fan of Harry Potter and is a fitness freak in nature. She is now preparing for her Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination. Vena’s Beauty With A Purpose project focuses on physical fitness, nutrition and healthy living. She has collaborated with Guyana’s Ministry of Public Health to promote healthy living and disease prevention. When asked who her biggest inspiration is, she said, her father, as he taught her that with hard work and constant determination you can achieve anything you want in life.

Guyana at Miss World:
In 2014, Rafieya Husain was one of five Beauty With a Purpose winners. She was also titled as Miss World Caribbean. In 2015, Lisa Punch managed to secure a spot in Top 10 and was also the winner of Talent Round during Miss World pageant which was held in Sanya, China. However, Guyana has never won the Miss World crown before. This year Vena Mookram will try her best to grab the first ever crown of Miss World for Guyana. Do you think it’s possible?
