Yuki Koshikawa is Miss Supranational Japan 2017
Yuki Koshikawa was declared as the new Miss Supranational Japan in Saitama Kaikan. She was crowned in the presence of Miss Supranational 2016 Srinidhi Shetty from India.
Yuki Koshikawa will now attempt to win the first Miss Supranational title for Japan. Until now, three Asians have won the title of Miss Supranational – Mutya Johanna Fontiveros Datul from the Philippines in 2013, Asha Bhat from India in 2014 and Srinidhi Shetty from India in 2016.
Japan is facing a dull period in pageants since long. The country was quite successful at Miss Universe in 2000s, thanks to Ines Ligron. Under the leadership of Ines, Japan placed in Miss Universe consecutively for three years 2006-2008 and that includes one first runner-up placement (Kurara Chibana in 2006) and one crown (Riyo Mori in 2007). The country won a Miss International crown (Ikumi Yoshimatsu in 2012). Will Yuki Koshikawa win Miss Supranational crown for Japan? Time will tell.
