21-year-old Polina Popova was crowned as the winner of Miss Russia 2017 in a national event held last night. She represented the region of Soverdlovsk Oblast in the contest and battled out 49 other delegates to claim the title of Miss Russia. The finale was held at Concert Hall, Barvikha Luxury Village in Moscow. Polina Popova was crowned by the outgoing queen Yana Dobrovolskaya. She will now represent Russia in Miss Universe 2017 and/or Miss World 2017.
At the same event, Kseniya Alexandrova from Moscow was declared as the first runner-up while Albina Akhtyamova from Rep of Bashkortostan was declared as the second runner-up. As per tradition, if the winner of Miss Russia can’t compete to one of the pageants, Miss Universe and Miss World, one of the runners up shall be appointed as a representative of Russia.
Apart from the title, Polina Popova got cash prize of 3 million Rubles, a car and other sponsored prizes. The runners up got college scholarship. Interestingly, Miss Russia crowned a blonde girl after almost a decade. Last one being Tatiana Kotova, Miss Russia 2007. Russia won Miss World last time in 2008 and Miss Universe in 2002.
