20 contestants of Miss Universe 2016 pageant visited Vigan a UNESCO site for the Cultural Terno festival where the contestants displayed stunning creating by top Filipino designers. Terno is a traditional Filipino dress worn by the women of the Philippines since 1500s.
1: Miss Thailand, Chalita Suansane wore a Rian Fernandez Terno. In his own words, the designer describes the Terno as “All the wealth and treasures of an ancient kingdom are evoked in this modern traje de mestiza terno. The dress is encrusted with 7,107 pearls representing the number of islands of the majestic Philippines. Adorned with full circular lace train with fine embroidery and laser cuts. A perfect piece that definitely fits for a Miss Universe.” the designer & his muse did total justice to the theme.
2: Miss Venezuela Mariam Habach wore a gold mermaid style terno created by Frederick Berches. What we loved about this dress is that it complimented Mariam’s towering height and it looked like a beautiful marriage of Spanish & Filipino culture.
3: Miss Brazil Raissa Santana wore Terno designed by Joel Acebuche. This gorgeous white piece featured multiple peplums that had red floral applique detailing she completed her look with a white flower.
4: Miss Philippines Maxine Medina wore a Terno designed by Albert Andrada who created Pia Wurtzbach’s winning gown at Miss Universe pageant last year. This white terno featured a tulle train & local embroidery with sequins. This Terno felt bit bridal but none the less Maxine looked like the pearl of the Orient.
5: Miss Singapore Cheryl Chou wore a gold-hued terno by designer Jearson Demavivas that featured silver sequins & rhinestones over the bodice the only gripe about this outfit is the sheer paneling around the neck we felt it was unnecessary none the less she looked like a vision to behold tonight.
