Future of Pageant Fashion [Out of the box]

Over the years we have seen how intricately pageants have been woven with fashion.  Be it the opening ceremony, a charity function, the interviews or the final night, ‘what she wears creates an impact’. And thus, the contestants are required to be fashion forward to not only stand out in that crowd full of pretty faces, lean bodies and brilliant minds but most of all to be remembered forever! Over the years the trends of pageant fashion has changed from ball gowns to sleek body hugging gowns and a wide range of variations in the use of fabrics from satin to sheer (net and tulle). It has been as an ever changing phenomenon as the placements, the technology and the world around us!

So here we bring forward, what we think can get pageant fashion by storm!!

We have witnessed some amazing new ideas brought forth by designers globally with use of new age structures, fits, fabrics and modern technology to create some master pieces, which put in proper terms are ‘jaw dropping’ and something we could have never imagined of in our wildest dreams.

Here are few of those amazing creations and ideas which we think can get us by surprise, if we witness them making their way into pageants:

SCULPTURED GOWNS

We would just love to watch a contestant wear such a sculptured gown at a big pageant like Miss Universe which is known for being the most fashion frenzy pageant! Moreover we just watched India’s Priyadarshini Chatterjee wear a similar sculptured gown by ace Indian designer Gaurav Gupta, at Miss World 2016 !

Sculptured gowns seem to be the new trend these days making their way successfully on red carpets globally, in one or the other form and with many major hits in their names! Moreover, such a gown would make an evening gown portrait look high fashion and if the lady in it has the confidence to carry it with panache, there cannot be anything like it!

NEW AGE / UNUSUAL  FABRIC

Yes, you read it right…..PAPER !

We are living in an age where environmental sustainability is a perennially hot topic, with pageants like Miss Earth coming forward doing their bit for it! Looking at all this we feel, use of something like these, say for ‘evening gown portraits’ can be quite welcoming, especially when with proper execution these can look very ‘futuristic’ and high fashion !!

Yes, it is something very out of the box, but honestly it is coming up as a trend lately, with many international celebrities showing up wearing latex on and off red carpets!

Now this was totally unexpected and uncalled for! Isn’t it?

Though we feel it will be a difficult outfit to carry and one needs to have a very fit body to pull it off, yet on the brighter side, it fits so well that a contestant actually having an uber fit body like Paulina Vega can give her contenders a run for the money! And since, there is always that someone who does it right and stands apart in her own way, on a positive note , for now we can just hope that someone eventually comes forwards and takes that well needed risk and takes the pageant fashion world by storm!

TECHNOLOGY

Yes, technology has touched fashion too, in its own magical ways!!

LIGHTS

That subtle glow of that ball gown in dim lights grabbed every eyeball existent, becoming one of the most memorable gowns in history of fashion.

We can just imagine how awes tricking such a gown will look in the relatively dim lightings of a pageant’s final night. It is bound to make the contestant stand out in all good ways, if the international organization agrees to the use of such a gown . Said that, this has to be that one ensemble we wish the most to watch on a pageant stage !

INTELLIGENT GOWNS “GOWNS WITH BRAINS”

This is literally a gown which fits the quote “BEAUTY WITH BRAINS “.

The beauty of this creation lies in those several blue artificial butterflies , which literally take off from the gown linked to a ‘microchip’ which decides when to take off!

We can just run our imagination to those wildest pictures, where we can see the contestant reaching the head ramp, making her pose and BAM…. there go those butterflies taking off from her beautiful gown! How fabulous it will look !!

We can also imagine an innovative national costume coming through with some of its elements coming into motion in a similar fashion !

Over the years pageants have come a long way from being a show of one’s physical attributes to being a show where the modern women can voice their opinions and choices, and live their fashion fantasies.

Pageants have so much to offer in terms of fashion as   “ A PAGEANT WILL ALWAYS BE INCOMPLETE WITHOUT FASHION HOLDING ITS HANDS “ !
