Theory: Which Evening Gown colour can make you a Miss World winner?

Miss World 2016 ended yesterday with Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico winning the crown. From 2011-2015, we had a leader board concept where it was easy predicting a winner from a bunch of girls but this year it was different. Miss Puerto Rico didn’t place in any fast track except Top 24 of Talent round. Still judges went with Miss Puerto Rico as the winner. Moments later, our team spotted out an odd trends in the history of Miss World where you see most Miss World winners coming from similar kind of classified group.
So what classification is this?
Well, it is the evening gown colour of the winners. Yes, there is a co-incidental yet weird resemblance in the evening gown colour selection of girls who went on to win Miss World. Our team took a base reference of winners since 1990 to 2016 and noted that there 3 popular colours/shades of the colour-White, Pink & Blue, which won Miss World most times. Let us have a look at this trend in detail once.
White Gown
White gown became quite a popular choice in 90’s which continued till last decade. From 1990-2010, we had 10 winners who selected white/shade of white evening gown for finale. The trend visibly became so popular that most countries started selecting their evening gowns in white colour for the finale of Miss World, with a belief that the chance of winning will increase. The importance of white started fading slowly and now for 6 years we don’t have a single winner in white. In fact there hasn’t been any remarkable Top 3 placement in white except Maria Harfanti from Indonesia in 2015.
Pink Gown
Pink colour looks like the ruling colour of this decade. It never really picked up until 2011. However, in mere 6 years, we have 4 winners who wore different shades of pink. A total of 7 winners came in last 27 years who chose pink as their lucky colour for the evening gown they wore for the finale of Miss World. It is to be noted that Venezuela won their last two Miss World crowns in pink gown only. In fact this year as well, Venezuela experimented on Diane Croce with a rose pink gown similar to Jacqueline Aguilera, Miss World 1995 but destiny had crown for Miss Puerto Rico.
Blue Gown
Blue colour gown holds an extreme importance in the heart of pageant fanatics as well as many girls because it rhymes with blue crown of Miss World. We often see a very huge number of White and Blue gowns in finale. In fact, Janelee Chaparro of Puerto Rico wore an evening gown that was inspired from the crown of Miss World in 2010. Blue shade picked up pace in last decade and we have 2 winners out of 6 in this decade. A total of 7 winners came from Blue Gown in past 27 years.
Black Gown
Winning with black gown has been very rare in pageantry, but we had 2 instances in Miss World where we saw girls wearing black gown won the crown. Apparently, both the girls weren’t the major crowd favourite to win the crown.
Other Colour Gown
Apart from the famous colours listed above, we had 2 very different colours-Green and Red winning the crown in 2001 & 2002. Unfortunately these gown colours never got repeated.
From the trend it looks like we may get our winners in Blue or Pink gown for next few years at least. So if you are an aspirant of Miss World crown, you definitely know what colour to chose 😉 What do you say?
