Hawa Kamara is Miss Universe Sierra Leone 2016

Sierra Leone will make it’s debut in Miss Universe 2016-2017 pageant with the beautiful Hawa Kamara from Western Area Urban of Sierra Leone.  She won the Miss Universe Sierra Leone in July 2016 at an event held in Brookfields Hotel, Freetown by defeating 17 other contestants.  She will be competing with 100+ contestants from around the world in the Miss Universe 2016 pageant, which is to be held in the Philippines in January 2017.  With intention to promote the Republic of Sierra Leone proudly at the Miss Universe pageant, Hawa Kamara has been gracefully requesting sponsorship for her Miss Universe journey on the internet.

While Sierra Leone has never participated in Miss Universe until now, the country has been sending representatives to few other pageants. Miss World has seen participation of Sierra Leone since 1986, although there was a big break from 1989 to 2006.  Mariatu Kargbo, Miss Sierra Leone 2009, was Top 16 Finalist at Miss World 2009.  Miss Universe Sierra Leone pageant, instated in 2016, also sent representatives to Miss International 2016 and Miss Earth 2016.  Interestingly, Miss International Sierra Leone 2016 Maseray Swarray won the title of Miss International Africa 2016.
