Bessika Bucktawor has been crowned as Miss Mauritius 2016

Bessika Bucktawor has been crowned as Miss Mauritius 2016.  She will represent the island nation of Mauritius in Miss World 2017.  She succeeds Veronique Allas as Miss Mauritius.  Veronique will represent Mauritius in this year’s edition of Miss World which will be held in the United States of America.  In the same event, Julie Charles was chosen as Miss Europian Union Mauritius 2016 and Shavina Hulkua was chosen as Miss International Mauritius 2016.

Mauritius has been competing at Miss World since 1970.  However, the country has placed only twice in so many years.  The first placement was achieved by Marielle Tse Sik-Sun in Miss World 1975.  The second placement was achieved by Jeanne Françoise Nathalie Clement who was Top 10 in Miss World 1989.  She was also continental beauty queen of Africa.  Will Bessika Bucktawor achieve a placement for the country next year?

Bessika Bucktawor: Chances in Miss World 2017

It’s pretty difficult to comment anything about Bessika’s chances because no other contestant has been chosen yet for Miss World 2017.  However, Bessika definitely needs a lot of grooming and polishing if she wants to shine in Miss World.  Thankfully she has a lot of time to do that.
