Kim Jin-Sol, Miss Seoul, is crowned as Miss Korea 2016. She was to represent Korea at Miss Universe 2016, but reports suggest that the pageant has lost Miss Universe franchise and hence the winner may go to Miss Earth or Miss International.
Kim Jin-Sol will be the first Miss Korea to not go to Miss Universe. Korea has not won a crown yet, but they have still achieved a decent record. Korea cracked the semi-finals for 8 times. The highest placement was achieved by Jang Yoon-Jeong in 1988. She was the 1st runner-up to Miss Thailand Porntip N. Few years ago, Honey Lee brought Korea at the centre of attention by her extra-ordinary performance in Miss Universe 2007. She finished 4th in the finals, although she was one of the top favourites for the crown.
As mentioned before, Kim Jin-Sol may go to Miss International or Miss Earth. Korea has cracked Top 5 of Miss International for 5 times. Last Miss Korea to crack Top 5 in Miss International was Seo Eun-mi, who finished second in the year 2009. The highest placement of Korea in Miss Earth was achieved by Catherina Choi in 2013. She won Miss Earth Fire title. Later she represented Brazil in Miss World 2015 and cracked the Top 20.
Chances of Kim Jin-Sol at Miss International or Miss Earth
Facially Kim is weak, although her body is nice. She may need to undergo a huge transformation if she aims for a placement at the pageant where is going. We don’t see her placing at either of the two pageants, at least for now.
