Karla de Beer was crowned as the winner of Miss World New Zealand 2016 held on 4th June 2016 at the end of the national event. The pageant was held at Sky City Convention Centre.This 22-years-old beauty hails from Auckland and battled out 13 other contestants to claim the title of Miss World New Zealand. Karla de Beer will now represent her country at Miss World 2016 later this year. She succeeds Deborah Lambie as the new Miss World New Zealand.

At the same event, Jessica Tyson was titled as first runner-up and Cosmiana Brown was titled as second runner-up. Completing the Top 6 court were Ariel Pearse, Abby Sturgin, Kristy Toy. Karla de Beer works for the charity organisation named ‘New Zealand Riding For The Disabled’. She explains her project stating, “As I love the outdoors and have a huge soft spot for horses, having ridden since I was 12. I have loved being a part of the Totara Park Riding for the Disabled club, getting involved with learning how to practically deal with the problems children with physical and mental disabilities face, and how to help them improve on the skills they need to overcome these difficulties.”
