Christine Barbier crowned Miss World Seychelles 2016

Christine Barbier has been crowned as Miss World Seychelles 2016. This 24 year old beauty hails from Cascade and works as an accounts assistant.  She battled out 12 other contestants in the contest to claim the title of Miss World Seychelles 2016. She also won Miss Personality, Miss Sport and Miss Talent. She succeeds Linne Freminot as the new Miss Seychelles. Christine Barbier shall represent her country at Miss World 2016 later this year. At the same event, Lianne Barbe was crowned as 1st princess and Samiya Albert was crowned as 2nd princess.

Christine, who is also an avid swimmer, had focused on her project entitled Children’s Home; Comfort, Care & Continuity. “I have chosen to dedicate my project to the young adults that has been living in the children home, since they have been a baby, or toddler, and at the age of 17 years only,” she said during the pre-finals interview.

Seychelles is yet to win the crown of Miss World. However the country has two semifinalists at Miss World – Jane Edna Straevens Victoria in 1972 and June Gouthier in 1973 – during the years when the country was still a part of the United Kingdom.
