Safiatou Baldé crowned Miss Guineé 2016

Safiatou Baldé was crowned as the winner of Miss Guineé 2016 (Miss Guinea 2016) at the end of the national pageant held on 30th January 2016. She was crowned by the outgoing winner Mama Aissata Diallo in the city of Conakry. Safiatou stands 5’8.5″ tall and shall now officially represent Guinea in Miss World 2016 pagent.

At the same event, Hawa Keita was declared as first runner-up and Aissatou Djiguera Camara was declared as second runner-up. The event had the presence of Ministers of Culture and Promotion of Women. The competition began with 19 girls which later on got trimmed down to 10 for the second round. Apart from the crown offered by Miss Guinea committee, Safiatou gets a benefit from a budget of 70 million Guinean francs. She will also defend the colors of the country in international cultural meetings and will be present at the book fairs in Paris and Turin (Italy). The first runner up gets $45 million Guinean francs, while the second runner up gets 25 million Guinean francs.

Safiatou Balde wishes to work on a project for inmates in correctional homes. She also expressed concern about the situation of Ebola orphans. In 2013, Mariama Diallo was the first girl to represent Guinea in Miss World contest. In 2014, Halimatou Diallo was adjudged as Top 14 in the Interview Round. Since its participation, Guinea has never placed at Miss World.
