Leah Lawson wins Miss South Carolina USA 2015
Leah Lawson crowned Miss South Carolina USA 2016!!!
Leah Lawson of Mountain Lakes was crowned as Miss South Carolina USA 2016 in a glittering ceremony that took place on 21st November 2015 at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Leah was crowned by Sarah Weishuhn the outgoing Miss South Carolina 2015 winner. Miss Aikens County – Megan Gordon bagged the first runner-up crown where as Caitlin Russell Miss Boiling Springs was crowned as Second runner-up. Leah will represent South Carolina at Miss USA 2016 pageant next year. In the same event 18 year old Marley Stokes won the Miss Teen South Carolina USA 2016 crown. Marley will represent South Carolina at Miss Teen USA 2016 pageant next year.
South Carolina has an exceptional record at the Miss USA pageant they have produced three Miss USA winners out of which two of them went on to win the Miss Universe crown. Miriam Stevenson Miss Universe 1954 and Shawn Weatherly Miss Universe 1980. In 1994 Lu Parker from South Carolina won the Miss USA title she was top 6 at Miss Universe 1994. Gina Tolleson was first runner-up at Miss USA 1990 pageant later she went on to win the Miss World 1990 crown. Betty Cherry (1956), Vickie Chesser (1970) & Amanda Pennekamp (2004) all bagged the first runner-up crowns for South Carolina at Miss USA pageant.

21-year-old Leah hails from the city of Anderson in South Carolina. She completed her Bachelors of Science in Chemistry degree from Presbyterian College. While studying there she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority,Student Activities Board and was part of the cheerleading squad. She is working as an assistant to a realtor at Berkshire Hathaway Home Services.Leah was top 75 at last year’s American Idol contest she also won upstate idol.In free time she enjoys hot yoga, traveling around the world, writing and singing her original music.
