Marthina Brandt has been chosen as Miss Brazil Universe 2015.  She will represent Brazil at Miss Universe 2015 in Las Vegas, USA.  The finals will be held on 20th December, 2015 where the reigning Miss Universe, i.e. Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega will be crowning her successor from 80+ hopefuls in a glittering event.  This will be the first edition of Miss Universe under ownership of WME/IMG.

Marthina Brandt will be the third Miss Universe from Brazil if she wins.  The first crown was won by Ieda Maria Vargas in the year 1963.  The second crown was won by Martha Vasconcellos in the year 1968. Brazil has finished as the first runner-up for 5 times – the years were 1954, 1957, 1958, 1972 and 2007.  The last time Brazil finished 2nd in Miss Universe was in the year 2007 when Natalia Guimaraes was 1st runner-up.  Last year’s Miss Brazil Melissa Gurgel also made it to the Top 15 in the Miss Universe edition that took place in January 2015 in Doral Islands.  In the past 20 years, Brazil has made the Top 15 for 8 times, out of which 4 times they were in the Top 5.

Marthina Brandt will be having a tough way at Miss Universe 2015.  Many strong girls are competing at the pageant.  Miss Universe Indonesia Anindya Kusuma, Miss India Urvashi Rautela, Miss Universe Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez, Miss Universe Thailand Aniporn Chalermburanawong, Miss Universe Peru Laura Spoya, Miss Universe Australia Monika Radulovic, Miss Universe Puerto Rico Catalina Morales, Miss Universe Venezuela Mariana Jimenez, Miss Universe Myanmar May Barani Thaw, Miss Universe Vietnam Pham Thi Huong, Miss Universe Jamaica Sharlene Radlein, Miss Universe Spain Carla Garcia, Miss Universe Sweden Paulina Brodd, Miss Universe Great Britain Nena France, Miss Universe South Africa Refilwe Fifi, Miss USA Olivia Jordan and Miss Universe Canada Paola Nunez Valdez are some of them.
