24-year-old, stunning beauty, Maria Emilia Araujo from Azores was crowned as the winner of Miss Universo Portugal 2015. She will now represent Portugal in Miss Universe 2015 that will be held in Las Vegas on 19th December 2015. The coronation was held at Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra. She was crowned by the outgoing queen Patricia Da Silva, Miss Universo Portugal 2014. Maria Emilia is a medical student and recently she got her degree in medicine

I promise I will embrace this challenge with a lot of guts, joy, effort and dedication, to raise and make Portugal known, and show you the beauty and intelligence can go hand in hand.” told Miss Universe Portugal 2015 after her coronation.
Maria Emilia Araujo is not new to beauty pageants. She has previously competed in Miss Grand International 2014. Although she could not place in finale, we feel that MGI 2014 experience would have helped her in grooming her stage presence. Portugal has placed in Miss Universe only once, since it’s inception. Laura Goncalves got a Top 10 placement in 2011 edition when the finale was held in Brazil. Marisa Ferreira was awarded the title of Miss Congeniality in Miss Universe 1999, which was won by Mpule Kwelagobe from Botswana.
