May Barani Thaw crowned as Miss Universe Myanmar 2015
At the end of the glittering ceremony of Miss Universe Myanmar 2015, May Barani Thaw was crowned as the winner of the pageant. She had to battle out 19 other stunner to win the title of Miss Universe Myanmar 2015. May Baran is 25-year-old beauty who stands 5’7″ tall. She will now be competing in Miss Universe 2015, the venue and date of which is yet not confirmed. May Barani Thaw was crowned by the out going queen Sharr Htut Eaindra, Miss Universe Myanmar 2014.
At the same event, Htet Htet Htun was crowned as Miss Universe Myanmar 2016. She will now represent Myanmar in Miss Universe 2016. Han Lay was adjudged as 1st runner-up of the pageant and was also awarded the Best National Costume sub award. Crowds’ favourite Cho Cho Tun was awarded as 2nd runner-up in the pageant.
May Barani Thaw is not new to pageants. Previously she competed at Miss International 2014, representing Myanmar in the pageant. She couldn’t place in Top 10 but she will now try her luck once more at Miss Universe 2015 pageant. Myanmar returned to pageants after 52 years. In 2013 Moe Set Wine represented Myanmar at Miss Universe 2013. Myanmar has never placed at Miss Universe Pageant. It debuted in 1959 where Than Than Aye represented Myanmar. Myint Myint May won Miss Congeniality at Miss Universe 1960. Myint Myint Khin Miss Myanmar 1961 was the last representative from Myanmar at Miss Universe Pageant until 2013.
Myanmar is a rising country in the field of pageants. This year she will definitely be one to watch out for the contest. However, she has the strongest competitors from her own continent who are equally vying for the crown of Miss Universe as any other front-runners of the pageant. Aniporn Chalermburanawong from Thailand is one of the major front-runners from Asia, very close is another stunner from Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach and the recently Pham Thi Huong crowned Miss Universe Vietnam.
