Htet Htet Htun crowned by May Barani Thaw

Htet Htet Htun was crowned as Miss Universe Myanmar 2016 at the conclusion of the national pageant responsible selecting the delegate for Miss Universe. This 23-year-old beauty, standing 5’7″ tall, shall now compete in Miss Universe 2016. She was crowned in the same event where May Barani Thaw. Interestingly May Barani Thaw was crowned by the out going queen Sharr Htut Eaindra, Miss Universe Myanmar 2014 first. Then Htet Htet Htun was declared as Miss Universe Myanmar 2016 and May Barani Thaw crowned her. Each winner got cash prize of 1 crore Kyats apart from other prizes.

1st Runner Up: Han Lay
2nd Runner-up: Cho Cho Tun

At the same event, Han Lay was adjudged as 1st runner-up of the pageant and was also awarded the Best National Costume sub award and Cho Cho Tun was awarded as 2nd runner-up in the pageant. On the contrary, pageant fans were actually rooting for Han Lay and Cho Cho Tun. However, both of them had to settle down with runner-up titles. Han Lay received 5 million Kyats as prize money where as Cho Cho Tun received 2.5 million Kyats.

Myanmar returned to pageants after 52 years. In 2013 Moe Set Wine represented Myanmar at Miss Universe 2013. Myanmar has never placed at Miss Universe Pageant. It debuted in 1959 where Than Than Aye represented Myanmar. Myint Myint May won Miss Congeniality at Miss Universe 1960. Myint Myint Khin Miss Myanmar 1961 was the last representative from Myanmar at Miss Universe Pageant until 2013.
