Zara Holland, Miss Hull GB 2015, has won the title of Miss Great Britain 2015/16. 50 Finalists beauties competed in evening wear, sports wear and swimwear in addition to the interview contest for the title. The finals took place at the Athena in Liecester on friday 11th September 2015. Last year the winner was 21 years old Miss South West Shelby Tribble from Plymouth. The organizer of the pageant is Kate Solomons. Miss Great Britain title is not to be confused with Miss Universe Great Britain or Miss United Kingdom. The winner of this pageant will not be going to any international beauty pageant. However, this pageant is still considered a major pageant in the United Kingdom. It has been in existence since 1945!
She is an actress, a model and works in family fashion business. She has organised and taken part in numerous events, aimed to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Zara displayed her athletic skills to judges by submitting a video of her unusual talent for mono-skiing. Interestingly, Zara’s mother Cheryl was crowned Miss Viking Radio, the equivalent to what is now Miss Hull and District, when the competition first started about 32 years ago.
Zara Holland is certainly representing a pageant now with a lot of history. In the past, this pageant has sent representatives to Miss Universe, Miss World, Top Model Of The World and Miss Tourism World. Highly popular fashion models of Great Britain like Harriadnie Beau have been contestants in the pageant. In fact, Bollywood star Preeti Desai had won this pageant in the year 2006. Actually she replaced Danielle Llyod, the girl who abused Shilpa Shetty in Celebrity Big Brother 5, as the winner when Danielle was fired due to her nude pictures in December 2006 edition of Playboy and also for the controversy surrounding her alleged affair with one of pageant’s judges Teddy Sheringham, the famous footballer. Her title was reinstated in 2010.
