Carla Viktor named as Miss Earth South Africa 2015
Carla Viktor was crowned as Miss South Africa 2015 at the end of national contest, holding franchise of Miss Earth for South African representative. She battled out the 16 Contestants of Miss Earth South Africa 2015 to claim the title. By winning this title, Carla Viktor now gets an official right to represent South Africa in Miss Earth 2015, that will be held in Vienna, Austria later this year. She was crowned by an outgoing winner Ilze Saunders, Miss Earth South Africa 2014.
Carla Viktor is 24 years old and is a firm believer of the principle of Ubuntu, “I am because we all are” and believes that we create our own opportunities, and it’s when we can use these opportunities to better the world around us that we realize it’s not about a title, but rather the purpose behind the title. She considers the greatest threat to our planet to be the belief that someone else will do the work for us, and even though it might be difficult to change to whole world all at once, we can start where we are, with what we have, and ultimately teach and inspire others to do the same.
The Miss Earth South Africa organisation is headed by Catherine Constantinides who was a representative of South Africa in Miss Earth 2003. South Africa has been performing decently in recent years. Carla Viktor has a herculean task of getting the first ever crown of Miss Earth for South Africa this year. The strongest contenders at the moment are Miss Ecuador Angela Bonilla, Miss Colombia Estefania Muñoz, Miss Malaysia Danielle Wong, Miss Philippines Angelia Ong, Miss United States Brittany Ann Payne and Miss Kenya Linda Gatere. There is already a lot of excitement for the pageant in Austria. This is the first time Miss Earth will take place in Europe! Miss Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell of Philippines will be crowning her successor in a glittering ceremony on 5th December.
