Review of India’s Next Top Model Episode 7

India’s Next Top Model Episode 7 had one of the finest challenges as well as one of the stupidest challenges. They came up with an idea where in first challenge, the contestants were supposed to pose as a mannequin and had to match the chemistry with a male model to showcase the love. They were guiding and controlling the male model. However, in second challenge, the girls were supposed to be posing as a mannequin in a shopping mall with comedian Cyrus Broucha. What I didn’t like about this challenge was that this was completely senseless. He would try distracting girls with childish acts and girls have to convince him to pose decently with them. Adding to this, they have to showcase the chemistry with Cyrus. Was that really required? I don’t think so. There was a risk that a very deserving girl would have been out just because Cyrus doesn’t want to pose nicely.However, what I liked was that they invited Milind Soman, who had been one of the greatest models of his time, to judge the photo-shoots. He did a nice job as a judge and I believe that they came up with quite fair result. Anyway, as usual, I have split separately for both the challenges with personal ranking.

Review of Mannequin Challenge-1

#1-Aditi Shetty

I loved Aditi here. She did give a lot of variety as a mannequin and I feel that she made the guy feel comfortable with her. The seemed to be having nice chemistry and Aditi was able to nail the photo shoot. If I were not knowing that it was a human, I would probable believe Aditi to be a real mannequin.

#2- Danielle Canute

Sometimes I really doubt that this girl has not experience as a model and she is just 18. I simply loved her maturity when it comes to posing as a model. Her pose is like as if she is already a supermodel. She did struggle to give this perfect shot but it was all worth. Even Lisa made a comment that this shot was sheer perfection and I couldn’t agree any more.

#3-Gloria Tep

What I loved the most about Gloria was that she focused even on the most minor detail like Mannequin has white eyes so she kept her eyes closed. This is what I call observation. A supermodel should always have it. I also loved Gloria’s poses during the shoot. She didn’t have much difficulty in getting it through. She is destined to go far and she knows that..!!

#4- Malvika Sitlani

Malvika was really disappointing in this round. She struggled a lot to match the chemistry with the male model. Her wide open eyes on white tone was looking scary and it looked as if she was trying to run away from the guy rather than portraying Love with him.

#5-Monica Gill

I liked how Monica was trying to make that guy comfortable by guiding him where to hold her and how to hold her. She seemed to be very much comfortable in this shot. She did give nice shots, however I don’t think the shot presented here was her best. Nevertheless, I liked her specifically in this round.

#6-Rushali Rai

Rushali struggled in the beginning but later on gain the confidence and she picked. But what I didn’t like much was that she was more into poses like a classical dancer which I don’t think went well with this photo shoot concept. She could have given a bit more varieties. Overall she was above average in this round.

Review of Mannequin Challenge-2

#1-Aditi Shetty

She looked like one of those mannequin I generally see in shopping malls. She also managed Cyrus very nicely. I don’t care what Milind said, but I do think that she was really true on the definition of Mannequin of shopping mall. She is definitely that girl who changed my perception about her. I too thought that she is just pretty face who is good for TV soaps but she is much beyond that.

#2- Danielle Canute

Danielle posed as one of those high fashioned models in New York. I loved her attitude completely. Judges were of opinion that her chemistry with Cyrus was missing, anyway who wants that? She totally nailed it.

#3-Gloria Tep

Gloria disappointed a bit here. She didn’t look like a mannequin. She bent way inconveniently that her efforts looked in vain. She was average in the round.

#4- Malvika Sitlani

Just like Danielle, Malvika had posed like a high fashioned model. However, judges again made comment that her chemistry with Cyrus was again missing (Oh god, Not again). I so wish Cyrus had not ruined chances of girls to stand out. I feel she could have stayed back if it was not about Cyrus (No offense, just my opinion).

#5-Monica Gill

She tried controlling Cyrus and to some extent she managed to get what she wanted. However, what she wanted was not what judges wanted. Her pose looked very robotic with dead expression. She was OK types, not too bad not too good.

#6-Rushali Rai

As Milind said, Rushali played too safe. The way she posed as a mannequin, I felt that she was trying to portray of mannequin from 1970s. No variety on the table. She too was ok in this round. Above everything, this round was plain stupid and I don’t think this should be a basis for the elimination of a girl.

My Personal Ranking (In ranking Order): Danielle Canute, Aditi Shetty, Malvika Sitlani, Gloria Tep, Rushali Rai, Monica Gill

Conclusion: The best for me overall was Danielle Canute, closely followed by Aditi Shetty. The bottom 2 for me were Monica and Malvika, just like the actual bottom 2. I feel the elimination was fair and Malvika was destined to be eliminated. We may see Monica Gill getting eliminated next week or in worst case, it could be Aditi. I am sure the rest 3 girls are not going to leave any soon.
