Taliana Vargas, Miss Colombia 2008, will go down as one of the most beautiful 1st Runner Up in Miss Universe history. 2008 was one of the most competitive batches where there were Miss Venezuela, Miss USA, Miss Puerto Rico, Miss India, Miss Mexico, Miss Panama, Miss Colombia etc were competing strong for their country for the crown. Taliana was barely noticed as a major threat until the finale, however she was a front runner in the competition.
People thought the main fight for the crown was between Venezuela, Mexico and India, but the table turned when India missed the first cut and the ground was left open for the likes of Colombia, Russia, Spain, Dominican Republic. Taliana, with her womanly curvy body, topped the swimsuit round beating the major crown favourite Dayana Mendoza, from Venezuela. In evening gown round, many believed that Talian’s gown looked like a peice of curtain but the way she worked out, it was like ‘Move aside bitches, this stage is mine’ and again she topped the round putting Venezuela in 2nd position. In final question, it was expected that judges loved her alot and probably she would win but she bombed to the question ‘What would you like to change about your past?’. She got messed up just like Claudia Moreno in 2000 and Monica Spear in 2005. At this moment, we thought she would probably finish 4th int he game but oh well, her 1st runner up finish made us believe that had she answered it with little more confident, she probably would have won. Whether she won or not, we loved her back then and we love her even today..!!!
