Throwback Thursday: #TBT-2
Eva Ekvall, a name that most of the pageant followers would always remember for sad reasons, was Miss Venezuela 2000 and the representative of Venezuela at Miss Universe 2001. She was one of those youngest girls to win Miss Venezuela, i.e. 17 years and get a once in a lifetime opportunity to represent her country in a major pageant like Miss Universe.
Like every other Venezuelan beauty queen, she was an instant favourite to win the crown of Miss Universe, held in Puerto Rico. In finale, she managed to penetrate into the Top 5 slot and managed to place as 3rd runner up. She later on forged ahead into her career as an actress, TV host and a model. Later in 2011, it was found that Eva was suffering from advanced breast cancer, she underwent breast implantation during her reign as Miss Venezuela. The beautiful story of Eva ended on 17th December 2011, at the age of 28, when she took her last breath with her husband and daughter beside. Eva’s husband founded an organisation called ‘Eva Ekvall Foundation’ in memory of her wife. It was painful to see such a beautiful soul bidding farewell at such an early age. We will always remember her as one of the most charismatic Miss Venezuela ever.
