Best Evening Gowns at Miss Universe 2014 Prelims

Preliminary Competition for the 63rd edition of Miss Universe took place on Wednesday at FIU Arena in Florida International University. The finale will take place at the same venue on 25th January where Maria Gabriela Isler from Venezuela will crown her successor. This year the quality of gowns showcased in evening gown portraits were really above average but the contestants brought their A+ game at the preliminary contest. We had a though time choosing the best gowns but we some how managed to narrow down to  10 Gowns.

 Couture Queens

Couture Queens: Russia & Ukraine
Couture Queens: Russia & Ukraine

It can’t get bigger than this Russia Vs Ukraine, Elie Saab Vs Zuhair Murad.  If we add the price of both the gowns, we can conduct a decent international pageant itself.

Miss Russia-Yulia Alipova: She wore a beautiful wine ball gown by Elie Saab. The gown featured beaded  crystal detailing. She completed her look with ruby earrings.

Miss UkraineDiana Harkusha : Wearing a Zuhair Murad gown from his latest collection, Diana brought Hollywood red carpet glamour to the pageant in style wearing a beaded high slit  strapless ball gown with a sweetheart neckline and an asymmetrical ruffle train. Diana finished the look with a high bun and matching earrings she looked amazing.

Silver Stunners

Colombia,Spain & Thailand

Colombia,Spain & Thailand

Miss Colombia-Paulina Vega: The most cheered and currently the front runner for the Miss Universe crown Paulina wore a stunning silver emblished column gown which highlighted her tall frame & 10/10 body. Our only critique is her choice of lipstick; wish she chooses other colour.

Miss Spain-Desiree Cordero: European torch Bearer at the moment wore a silver gown with a sweetheart neckline with sequins, her side swept  hair was just so perfect that brought in the diva out of her.

Miss Thailand-Pimbongkod Chankaew:  The 6ft tall, leggy lass, Pimbongkod wore a silver coloum gown. We loved the feather & sequin detailing of the gown. It fitted her so well & she didn’t over accessories her whole look. We again would like say it ‘The one who stand TALL, also standout’ and this goes so well on our lovely Pimbongkod.

Golden Girls

India & Mexico
India & Mexico

Miss India-Noyonita Lodh:  She wore a gold & sheer full sleeved gown with a high slit the detailing in front. It looked expensive and if she can work out well in finale, BAM…!!! She will be in Top 5 for sure.

Miss MexicoJosselyn Garciglia : Wearing a gold colour gown with a beautiful neckline filled with multicoloured stones gave a dramatic impact.

Impactful Girls

Miss IndonesiaElvira Devinamira: She was styled to perfection-her hair, earrings & her gown was so mesmerizing and amazing. Wearing a silver/grey gown with a  sheer skirt the gown was bejewelled by crystals, sequins.

Miss USA-Nia Sanchez: The host girl look firey hot in a red sequinned mermaid gown. The gown looks thousand times better in motion than in pics. We loved her hair & earrings. Definitely one of the Top gowns.

Miss LithuaniaPatricija Belousova : First let us just take a moment and appreciate one of the most beautiful face  that has graced pageants ever, Patricija styling was so old school Hollywood types. Her grey strapless flowy gown with silver bodice looked absolutely stunning on her and her styling was bang on with her hair done in a classy way. Those chandelier earrings added much needed drama to the whole simple yet elegant look.

From wearing something so disastrous and forgettable to something so classy, had this gown debut  some years ago it would have been in the best gown category, but we have seen a gown similar to this since last year at both Miss Universe & Miss USA and to make things worst Co-Host for the preliminary competition Roxanne Vargas wore a similar version of it.
