7 Pleasant Surprises at Miss Universe 2014

Yesterday, we listed out ‘7 Goddesses of Miss Universe 2014‘ where the girl with the Most Beautiful Face in the pageant were highlighted! Today, we shall be listing 7 such girls who are a Pleasant Surprise for us and for pageant fans. The word pleasant as per our dictionary relates to the girls:

1) Who were not at all in limelight before the pageant started but is now gaining the momentum

2) The girls who were bashed when they won at national level but now turned down the table by blooming like never before

3) Girls who were not up to the mark when they won at national level but showed a huge improvement

4) Girls who are yet to get noticed but are killing the competition silently.

5) Girls whose country generally don’t send such stunner but did it this year. Viola!!!

These girls are not mega favourites for the crown of Miss Universe 2014, but can certainly create an upset by placing in Top 15 in the finale and then may end up in Top 5 based on their performance. Hence, never underestimate them. It is similar to the case of Miss Angola winning Miss Universe 2011, Miss India winning Miss Universe 1994, Miss Japan winning Miss Universe 2007 where none of them were a Major favourite but were unstoppable in finale.

So fitting in any of the above 5 definitions, here are the Top 7 girls in alphabetical order:

1)  Costa Rica, Karina Ramos

Costa Rica, Karina Ramos
Costa Rica, Karina Ramos

Costa Rica was well received by the fans when she won, but was never touted as one of the mega favourite. However, this girl has got that ‘IT’ factor that will help her to shine. Beauty wise she will be a shoo in for Top 15 and from her interview video, she looks very personable. What else do you need in a Miss Universe finalist? You go girl..!!!

2) Great Britain, Grace Levy

Great Britain, Grace Levy

Ok, not as huge fan of Miss Great Britain as I was of her predecessor, but this girl has got the personality of a charming bubbly girl who is still in her teen [that really works well sometimes]. Although, we doubt about her placement in Miss Universe finale, but to us  she is one of the best girls sent by GB to the Miss Universe pageant.

3) Guyana, Niketa Barker

Guyana, Niketa Barker
Guyana, Niketa Barker

Facially, one of the best black girls along with Miss Gabon. However, Miss Gabon has been a favourite and in limelight since long, Miss Guyana got into picture very recently. We just loved her presence and is definitely very unique compared to her past predecessor. Guyana’s representative for Miss World made it to the Top 10 at Miss World 2014, will Niketa do the same in Miss Universe 2014? Come finale…!

4) Indonesia, Elvira Devinamira

Elvira is such a sweetheart. You just can’t skip the charm of this girl (check out her introduction video at Miss Universe 2014). She is beautiful, she is charming, she is polished and she has a huge fan support. We can definitely see her making it to the Top 10 with this qualities. Elvira will try to continue the placement streak of Indonesia which was started by Whulandary Herman last year.

5) Lithuania, Patricija Belousova

Lithuania, Patricija Belousova

Those Eyes, Those Eyes, Those Eyes…!!!!

Question: When was the last time you ever noticed Miss Lithuania at Miss Universe?

Answer: Hmm, May be never.

Well, this speaks volume. Patricija was also on the list of ‘Top 7 Goddess of Miss Universe’. She is too good to be ignored in the finale. Just on her beauty alone, she could place in Top 15.

6) Netherlands, Yasmin Verheijen

Netherlands, Yasmin Verheijen

Yasmin is another gem that we never realised of, till the time we saw her interview. Her aura is so regal and of a girl trying to convey million expressions through her mannerism. We seriously recommend you to watch her introduction video and you will know why she made it to our list. To us, she is simply one of the best Miss Netherlands in last 10 years (Sorry Kelly Weekers).

7) Thailand, Pimbongkod Chankaew

Pimbongkod is probably the tallest delegate this year; and Tall never fails to stand out :). Originally the first runner-up at Miss Thailand pageant, Pim was promoted to represent Thailand at Miss Universe when the actual winner resigned due to the controversy of making a comment on political leader. This brought a wave of joy in the pageant world as people loved Pim more than the winner. However, back in those days Pim wasn’t much polished, but she arrived in Doral and took it by storms when she started outshining many hyped candidates. She is definitely on to watch out in prelim.
