How I learnt to love Priyanka Chopra

Oh she is not that extra-ordinary looking:I remember the day she she won Miss India. She looked beautiful, there is no doubt about that. But she did not look extra-ordinary like say Aishwarya Rai or even Diya Mirza who surprisingly finished third in the pageant right after Priyanka. I was pretty sure she would not do much at Miss World. In fact India had won Miss World in 1999, there was no reason to not believe that this girl from Bareily could win it again the very next year.
The Bold Beauty: But she proved me wrong! All I remember is that pictures of PC praying while she was being crowned by Yukta. Years passed and we started to see Priyanka in movies. I din’t see her first movie Andaaz, but I remember some interesting scenes 😉 from the movie. The first movie in which she made some solid impression has to be Aitraaz.

India’s Jodie Foster? : In my opinion, Aitraaz deserved more accolades than it got. Same about Priyanka Chopra. It is sad that her brilliant potrayal of Sonia got dubbed as a negative role and all she got was the best actress in villainous role awards. If this was Hollywood, she would have been there in Best Actress categories at Oscars. She was downright brilliant in the film. It gave her the opportunity to act in addition of portraying seductiveness and boldness which comes kind of easy to her, because she is full of oomph and sex appeal. My personal favorite from the movie has to be the scene where she tries to get Akshay to make love to her. It is not just about how wonderful she looks or her erotic body language, even the way she runs after him as he leaves is an interesting part of the act. 😉

One Woman Army: By this time, I started respecting her. She is beautiful, fit and definitely talented. Then in 2008 came Fashion. This was the movie which largely changed my perception about her. She could shine even in a movie which has no hero. Very few actresses can pull this off. And Priyanka did it with so much ease. I particularly love the songs of the film, but my favorite part has to be the climax. The movie ridiculously captures the reality of our lives. People live together, laugh together and yet talk so much about each other. There is just so much beauty as well as so much flaw all around. We can see what we choose to see. We can find what we choose to find.

Silent Killer: The final seal of my love was her was BARFI! The Charlie Chaplin aka Ranbir definitely wooed everyone with his excellent antics. But Priyanka kept a place for herself in everyone’s heart. Her brilliant acting just cannot be taken for granted. May it be the scene where she wants to pee and Ranbir helps her, or may it be the scene where she asks Ileana to leave Ranbir, it is all fantastic. I fell in love with Priyanka.
Magnificence Personified : Now Priyanka is also a singer and has made name for herself in the west. She rose above my “oh she is not extra-ordinary looking” judgement and has proved herself to be far beyond what conventions could have placed her into. I saw her with her new BMW and I felt she has achieved so much for herself. What me or any other person on the earth thinks about her does not matter. She knows she is awesome and that’s enough. We wish her lots of love, luck and a happy birthday!!!
