Andrea Toscano wins Mexicana Universal 2018
Miss Colima, Andrea Toscano defeated 31 other contestants to win the first-ever edition of Mexicana Universal 2018. Grand finale of Mexicana Universal 2018 took place on Sunday, June 2nd, 2018 at Foro de TV Azteca. Andrea was crowned by Lupita Jones, Mexico’s first Miss Universe and co-owner of the Miss Universe franchise for Mexico. Andrea will represent Mexico at theMiss Universe 2018 pageant where she will try to succeed South Africa’s Demi Leigh Nel Peters as the next Miss Universe. Miss Tabasco, Aranza Molina bagged the first runner-up crown whereas the second runner-up title went to Miss Sinaloa, Maryely Leal. Miss Guerrero, Lupita Valero, Miss Jalisco, Nebai Torres and Miss Zacatecas, Karely Sandoval completed the top 6.
Mexico debuted at the Miss Universe pageant in the year 1952. Since then Mexico has produced two Miss Universe winners Lupita Jones in 1991 and Ximena Navarrete in 2010. Mexico has placed several times in the top 15 and top 5 respectively. Mexico last placed t the Miss Universe pageant in 2016 when Kristal Silva made it to the top 9 of the pageant.
