Margaret Derry Mwintuur wins Miss Ghana 2017
Margaret Derry Mwintuur has been awarded the prestigious title of Miss Ghana 2017 in a gliterring ceremony last weekend. Marigold Frimpong and Priscilla Nana Akua Gameli comes in as 2nd runner and 1st runner ups respectively. Margaret will now represent Ghana at Miss World 2018. She will succeed Aphua Akrofi as Miss World Ghana. Aphua was 1st runner-up in Miss Ghana 2015 and has been handpicked to represent Ghana at Miss World 2017 in China next month. The decision was made so as to give the new winner more time to prepare for what will be the most important competition of her life.
Ghana at Miss World
Ghana has been sending representatives to Miss World since 1959. Their first placement (Top 15) was achieved by Araba Martha Vroom in Miss World 1967. Next placement was achieved by Lamisi Mbillah in Miss World 2006. She also won the prestigious ‘Beauty With A Purpose’ title. Ghana again won this title and placed in Miss World in the year 2009 with Mawusi Apea. However, the highest placement of Ghana was achieved in 2013 by the charismatic Carranzar Shooter. Last year Antoinette Kemavor placed in Top 20. Will Aphua Akrofi achieve success at Miss World 2017 with her amazing preparation? Will the 1 year of preparation help Margaret Derry Mwintuur in her Miss World journey?
