Yasmine Cooke, defeated 7 other contestants to bag the title of Miss Universe Bahamas 2017. Grand finale of Miss Universe Bahamas 2017 took place on Sunday, October, 1st at the Atlantis Theater, Paradise Island. Cherell Williamson, Miss Universe Bahamas 2016 crowned Yasmine as her successor. Yasmine will represent Bahamas at the 66th Miss Universe pageant which will take place on November,26th at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This was the 54th edition of the pageant and the first under the new franchise owners Shimmer And Sparkle Lifestyle Limited. Bahamas has competed at the Miss Universe pageant since 1963 but it is yet to bag its first placement at the pageant. Bahamas has won Miss Congeniality twice in 1981 & in 2001. Ava Marilyn Burke Miss Bahamas 1982 bagged the Miss Photogenic award at Miss Universe 1982.

Yasmine hails from the city of Nassau and is currently studying medicine at the University of the West Indies, St Agustine. She also has a degree in Neuroscience from George Mason University. Yasmine is a part time model.
