Kalpana Iyer competed in Femina Miss India contest in 1978. After being first runner-up at Miss India, she represented India at Miss World 1978, held in London. She placed in Top 15 as one of the semifinalists and overall finished at 11th place. Her professional career includes full fledged vamp characters and famous dance numbers. She also became a pop singer and had performed in many shows. Talking about her personal life, it was very painful as she quotes it, when she decided to move to Dubai, away from all the glam and glitz. She never got married or raised a family.
