Diana Edward Lukumai is crowned as Miss Tanzania 2016

Diana Edward Lukumai has won the title of Miss Tanzania 2016. She will represent Tanzania at Miss World 2016, which will be held at Washington D.C. in the United States of America in December 2016. She succeeds Lilian Kamazima as Miss Tanzania title-holder. Diana defeated around 30 contestants in a grand event held on 29th October in Mwanza. She was awarded a Toyota IST car. Maria Peter (Miss Mwanza) was the first runner-up while Grace Malikita (Miss Ilala) was named the second runner-up.
Tanzania has been participating in Miss World since 1967. However, the first placement was achieved only in Miss World 2005, where Nancy Sumari went on to make it to the Top 6 and win Miss World Africa title. There has been no placement for Tanzania in Miss World since then. However, Tanzania has been doing well in challenger events, especially in ‘Beauty With a Purpose’. In fact, Miss Tanzania 2013 Brigitte Alfred Lyimo was 2nd runner-up in ‘Beauty With a Purpose’ challenger event. Miss Tanzania 2015 Lilian Kamazima made it to the Top 10 of ‘Beauty With a Purpose’. Will Diana Edward Lukumai achieve the second placement for Tanzania in Miss World?
