Now it is clear that Miss Universe 2016 will be held in January 2017 in the Philippines.  This news is very exciting because Philippines can be a fabulous host.  They have hosted this event twice in past and done very well in both cases.  Last time hosted the event, India’s Sushmita Sen won the first Miss Universe crown for her country.

As soon as the news broke out, some people have started speculating that Sushmita Sen should be involved with the pageant.  Some say she should judge the finals.  We think she should host!  Sushmita Sen speaks very well and can be a fabulous host.  Her appearances in Indian TV shows have always been amazing.  She has a way with words.  Plus Sushmita is loved by the people of Philippines.  There are many young girls born in 90s in Philippines who were named Sushmita after her, which speaks a lot about her popularity in the country.  Even Sushmita has always been vocal about her love for Philippines.  She calls it her second home.  When Pia Wurtzbach won Miss Universe 2015, Sushmita Sen was overjoyed and expressed her happiness on Twitter too!  Unlike many Miss Universe winners, we haven’t seen much of Sushmita Sen in Miss Universe except in year 2012 when she was present in the audience to cheer Shilpa Singh.  She was India’s national director for three years starting from 2010.  It is high time that Miss Universe Organization pay her the due honour by inviting her to be a part of Miss Universe 2016 in a big way, now that it is happening in Philippines.

Let us hope the word reaches Miss Universe Organization.  The locals of Philippines and India would totally love it!
