Oscar Awards 2016: Fearless Predictions[Exclusive]

Oscars 2016
Leonardo & Brie are hot favorites for the main acting categories

It’s time for the most prestigious movie Awards in the world and count down has begun.  We are presenting our predictions as to who all will take the Golden Statuette (Oscar) this Feb 28.

Best Picture
Will Win: The Revenant
Could Win: Spotlight

With the recent win at BAFTA,  ‘The Revenant’ has an edge over ‘Spotlight’.  But this is the toughest prediction this year. ‘The Revenant’ also won ‘Best Picture in Drama’ Category at Golden Globes.  But Spotlight won SAG award for ‘Best Ensemble cast’ which is equivalent to ‘Best Picture’.  Therefore one of these two will win and as of now ‘The Revenant’ has an edge over ‘Spotlight’.

Best Director
Will Win: Alejandro G Innaritu (The Revenant)
Could Win: George Miller (Mad Max Fury Road)

Innaritu could be the third man in the Academy history to win a ‘back to back’ Oscar in the ‘Best Director’ category, after John Ford and Joseph L Mankiewicz.  He won ‘Best Director’ at Golden Globe, BAFTA & DGA which means he is going to win Oscar also.  But George Miller’s outstanding direction can be a threat for Innaritu.

Best Actor
Will Win: Leornardo Di Caprio (The Revenant)
Could Win: None

Perhaps the easiest category to predict!  There is no competition for Leo.  There is no one who could win this year other than him and that shows how phenomenal he is.  Internet will be crazy if he wins that all important Oscar, and also just in case he doesn’t.  In other words, internet is going to be crazy about him on 29th Feb.  No escaping to that!

Best Actress
Will Win: Brie Larson ( Room )
Could Win: Saosri Ronan ( Brooklyn)

Another easy one to predict!  Brie walked away with all the awards by far mainly because of the complexity of the character and the herculean task she has had to overcome reaching so far.  She deserves this but 21 years-old Ronan was absolutely amazing in Brooklyn.  Personally I felt Charlotte Rampling really took “45 years” into another level, but the odds are not favoring the 70 years-old veteran actress who took the ‘Silver Bear’ for Best Actress at Berlin Film Festival.

Oscar 2016
Alicia Vikander & Sylvester Stallone are favorites for Supporting Actor/Actress categories

Best Supporting Actor
Will Win: Sylvastore Stallone (Creed)
Could Win: Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies)

This is a confusing category.  The one who should have won (Idris Elba, Beasts of Nation) is not even nominated.  In this relatively weak category, Mark Rylance deserves to win among the nominees, but the odds are favoring veteran Stallone.  Obviously he didn’t give a stellar performance, but we think Academy will award him honoring his Work over the years.

Best Supporting Actress
Will Win: Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl)
Could Win: Kate Winslet ( Steve Jobs)

Kate won both Golden Globe and BAFTA so one might think she Will win Oscar too.  But the fact is that Alicia was nominated in Lead Actress at Both the Awards.  Alicia seems to be winning it as she gave another stellar performance in “Ex Machina” this Year.  Rooney Mara, who won Best Actress in Cannes Film Festival, is also nominated in this Category but Alicia has it in her bag.
