Miss Grand Pakistan 2016: Anzhelika Tahir

As per reports, Anzhelika Tahir (living in Kyiv, Ukraine) will represent Pakistan at Miss Grand International 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand later this year.  She won Miss Pakistan 2015 title, Miss Pakistan World 2015/2016 and Miss Pakistan University 2015/2016.  In fact she finished third in the Miss World University 2016 pageant in China.  This is one of the best placements achieved by Pakistani beauties in international pageantry.

Anzhelika Tahir can be the second girl from Pakistan to place in Miss Grand International.  The first was Miss Grand Pakistan 2013 who made the Top 20.  It was the debut year of Miss Grand International and the winner was Janelee Chaparro of Puerto Rico.  Anzhelika can also be the first non-carribean beauty to win the pageant. Strangely, all the three winners of Miss Grand International have been from the Caribbean islands.

Anzhelika’s achievement is special because she is from a country where beauty pageants are not really popular.  We would like to see her in major pageants like Miss World and Miss Universe too.  Miss World pageant has also abolished the swimsuit competition, hence there should be no inhibition in participation due to bikini round.
