It’s been more than 4 years since a black beauty won a major international pageant.  The last one was Miss Angola 2011 Leila Lopes who won the Miss Universe title that year.  After her, many girls like Atong Demach and Carranzar Shooter have achieved good success in international pageantry, but we are still waiting for a winner placement.  2015 also had some really breath-taking black stunners competing in international pageants.  Although there were many good performances, our wait for a black winner extended for one more year.  In this post, we are paying tribute to the lady whom we consider the best black beauty of the year.

In Miss Universe, Flora Coquerel of France finished in the Top 5.  She is half-black (her mother is from Benin).  Refilwe Mthimunye of South Africa made it to the Top 15 and surprised everyone.  In Miss World, Miss Jamaica Sanneta Myrie (who is said to have black roots) made the Top 5.  She is the first Top 5 finalist of Miss World history to wear dreadlocks in finals.  Liesl Laurie of South Africa made Top 10 and performed very gracefully in the pageant from day 1.  She is also said to have black roots.  Miss Guyana Lisa Punch was the winner of the Talent award.  She also placed in Top 10.  Miss South Sudan Ajaa Kiir Monchol placed in Top 20.  In Miss Supranational 2015, Miss Rwanda Sonia Gisa made Top 20 and won Miss Supranational Africa title.  Margaret Muchemi of Kenya also got a Top 20 placement.  Miss Dominican Republic Ingrid Franco was Top 3 in Top Model contest.  In Miss Grand International 2015, Meriam Kaxuxwena of Angola achieved a Top 20 placement.  Thus, many black beauties achieved good success in pageantry in 2015.  However, one particular lady created history.

Eunice Onyango
Miss Kenya International Eunice Onyango is TGPC’s Black Beauty of the year 2015. She finished third in Miss International 2015.

Eunice Onyango of Kenya won the second runner-up title in Miss International 2015.  She also won the title of Miss International Africa.  It was the first time a black African beauty made it to the Top 3 of Miss International.  It is the first time a bald beauty placed in the Top 3 of this pageant with a rather traditional taste.  Eunice Onyango actually left no option with the judges.  She is supermodel-esque, gorgeous, smart, well-spoken and very confident.  Her speech in the finals was very impressive.  This is one of the highest placements of Kenya in pageantry ever.  This success is particularly special because Miss International is often accused of racism.  However, after Eunice Onyango’s success, perhaps more African beauties can dream of wearing the coveted Miss International title someday.

Thus, Eunice Onyango of Kenya is our BLACK BEAUTY OF THE YEAR 2015.
