Luisa Baptista is Miss Angola 2016
20-year-old stunning Luisa Baptista was crowned as Miss Angola 2016. She represented as Miss Cuando Cubango in the pageant last weekend. She battled out 16 other contestants to win the title of Miss Angola 2016. She will now represent her country in Miss Universe 2016. She was crowned by Leila Lopes, who won Miss Universe 2011 and is the only Miss Universe Angola has till date. She succeeds Whitney Shoikongo as new Miss Angola. Whitney is currently competing in Las Vegas for the title of Miss Universe 2015.
At the same event, Miss Huambo, Victoria Mande was adjudged as the first runner-up, Miss Angola UK, Raquel Gomes was declared as the second runner-up. Claudia Leonardo, Miss Angola Portugal, and Bruna Cardosa, Miss Benguela, completed the top 5. Luisa Baptista was awarded a Fiat 500 car as one of her prizes as Miss Angola 2016. Miss Photogenic was awarded to Miss Benguela, Bruna Cardoso and Miss Friendly award was given to Valentina Silva. Best traditional attire award was given to Carolina Caluvi, Miss Huíla. The gala of the pageant saw Angolan musicians Kyako Kyadaff, Sarissari and Tchoboli, As Africanas, Big Nelo and the US singer Billy Paul as the performers in the finale.
While Angola didn’t have much good track record at Miss Universe, Luisa Baptista does have some potential which with proper grooming she might be considered as one of the probable placers in finale. Let’s see how time unfolds and how well Luisa Baptista transforms by the time she arrives at Miss Universe 2016 contest.
