Samantha McClung has won Miss Universe New Zealand 2015 pageant. She now gets the golden chance to represent New Zealand in Miss Universe 2015. The pageant will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States of America on 20th December, 2015. It will see participation from 80+ countries hopefully. The new Miss Universe will be crowned by the reigning winner Paulina Vega of Colombia. This will be the first year of Miss Universe pageant under the ownership of WME/IMG, after the sale of the pageant by Mr. Donald Trump. The first runner-up in the finals was Hannah Henderson and the second runner-up was Gabrielle Manaloto.

Samantha McClung is 20-years-old. She is a make-up artist from Christchurch, New Zealand. Samantha grew up in the Marlborough Sounds. She has also lived in Perth. Samantha McClung emerged out as a winner after a tough ride. 50 percent of the results were decided by public vote. Rest was upon a panel of esteemed judges that included Miss Philippines Universe 2014 Mary Jean Lastimosa, former girl band member Megan Alatini, New Zealand Idol andThe X-Factor NZ contestant, Steve Broad. In total 200 girls applied for participation. The twenty finalists went to the Philippines for a retreat.

Samantha McClung has the chance to be the second Miss Universe New Zealand. The first Miss Universe crown for New Zealand was achieved by Lorraine Downes in 1983. Delyse Nottle also made it to the Top 5 in Miss Universe 1980. She was the second runner-up. Last placement of New Zealand in Miss Universe was in the year 1992 when Lisa Maree de Montalk made it to the Top 10. Rachel Maree Millns was the representative from New Zealand last year. She could not make it to the Top 15. Samantha will have very little time for preparations. The competition this year is very strong with pageant powerhouses like Venezuela, India, Philippines and USA sending very strong delegates.
