Susan Leica was chosen as Miss Michigan USA 2016 on Saturday at McMorran Auditorium.  Susan was Miss Lionia USA and will compete at Miss USA 2016 next year where Olivia Jordan, unless she wins Miss Universe, will be crowning her successor.  Susan was crowned as Miss Michigan USA 2016 by Miss Michigan USA 2015 Rashontae Wawrzyniak, who was in Top 11 at Miss USA 2015.  At same event, Unjanee Wells won Miss Michigan Teen USA 2016 title.

Susan Leica is a spine specialist at Biomet Spine in Greater Detroit Area since more than 2 years.  She has worked in past with American Eagle Logistics as sales representative in Farmington Hills and has studied Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Human Biology.  She can speak Romanian and Polish in addition to English.

Susan Leica will be trying to be the fourth Miss USA from Michigan next year.  Carole Gist was the first beauty from Michigan to win Miss USA.  She did that in 1990.  She later was the first runner-up at Miss Universe 1990, which was won by Miss Norway Mona Grudt in Los Angeles, USA.  Next Miss Michigan USA to win Miss USA was the famous beauty Kenya Moore.  She won Miss USA 1993 and later finished as a Top 6 finalist in Miss Universe 1993, which was won by Miss Puerto Rico Dayanara Torres in Mexico city, Mexico.  Both Carole & Kenya were from the same area as Susan Leica, i.e. Detroit.  The third and the last Miss USA from Michigan was Rima Fakih from Dearborn.  She was born in Lebanon and is one of the very few Miss USA winners to go unplaced at Miss Universe.  She was Miss USA 2010.  Michigan is one of only twelve states to have had more than one Miss USA and has had the ninth highest number of semi-finalists. They have not, however, been successful in gaining other awards.
